The first Southern area Ju-jitsu interclub championships took place on Saturday 2nd March 2019.

A brilliant day with old & new friends from Rising Sun Martial arts, Harlow Jiu jitsu club & Dorchester Fudoshin jujitsu club.

All juniors will receive a competitors medal for entering if they don’t win a winner’s medal.

Encouragement is welcomed, but remarks which may be disrespectful to others will not be tolerated.

ALL MONIES TO BE FORWARDED BY GROUP SENSEI’S ONLY.  EVERY EFFORT SHOULD BE MADE TO USE THE ENTRY FORM PROVIDED AND TO SUBMIT YOUR MONIES ON TIME PLEASE.

TO REDUCE PROBLEMS ON THE DAY, PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU DOUBLE-CHECK YOUR ENTRY FORMS BEFORE YOU SUBMIT THEM AND MAKE SURE THE DETAILS ARE CORRECT IE.,GRADES (AT TIME OF COMP) ETC.

Rules overview

 

Continuous fighting

THE SENIOR OFFICIALS DECISION IS FINAL WITH REGARD TO THE SUITABILITY OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT.

EQUIPMENT:

THE SYSTEM:

2 x Fighters/ 1 x Referee/ 2-3 x Judges/ 1 x Time Keeper

1 x 3 Minute Round (Adults)

Judges to use hand-clickers.

PART 1:       SPARRING:     1 Minute

PART 11:     GRIP/THROW:   45 Seconds

PART 111:   GROUND FIGHTING:  1 Minute

SCORRING:

PART 1:       SPARRING:  Clean Punches/Strikes/Kicks = 1 Point

All sparring must be LIGHT and with CONTROL.

NO DIRECT PUNCHING TO FACE FOR JUNIOURS

Kicks below waist permitted

PART 11:     THROWING:  Referee will shout “Grip” after 1 minute sparring

45 seconds maximum to THROW/TAKE DOWN

Clean Throw = 5 Points

Take Down  = 3 Points

PART 111:   GROUND FIGHTING:  Begins immediately after successful Throw/

Take-Down.  If no Throw/Take-Down achieved after 45 seconds –

referee will shout “Grip” again – Fighters will KEEP HOLD – but

will now placed in a kneeling position to continue.

HOLD DOWNS & SUBMISSIONS = 3 Points

CONTINUOUS FIGHTING-SYSTEM JUNIORS

ROUNDS:     1 x 1.30 Min Round

16-17 YRS:  THIS AGE GROUP WILL FIGHT TO ADULT RULES

(AS PER BJJAGB DIRECTIVE) BUT WILL HAVE THEIR OWN

CATEGORY.

PENALTIES:  Any fighter who delivers hard contact/illegal moves will be

YELLOW CARDED! and 3 Points added to opponents score.

RED CARD = Instant Disqualification!

Ground fighting Rules

1 round of 1.5 minute.

Chokes, Strangles and arm locks are permitted for all juniors at the discretion of the referee. A referee may stop/restart a fight if they believe a junior competitor to be in danger.

Students to start on their knees facing each other.  HOLD DOWNS (10 seconds) = 3 Points. Submissions = 5 points

Competitors will be matched on age, grade & weight as closely as possible. If no opponent can be found close to age, grade & weight then the next closest available opponent will be found and matched against.

No neck/spinal locks are permitted

Winner declared based on points accumulated

Sparring Rules – Semi contact

1 X 1.5-minute round

Competitors will be matched on age, grade & weight as closely as possible. If no opponent can be found close to age, grade & weight then the next closest available opponent will be found and matched against.

Shin pads & hand mitts/boxing gloves compulsory.

No head strikes for children

Sweep’s & takedowns allowed- But no ground work allowed.

Winner will be declared according to technical ability, evasion, counter striking, striking & blocking

Randoori 

1 x 1.5-minute round

1 point for clean throw that lands opponent on back

½ point for clean throw that lands opponent on side

Judges to use hand-clickers

Winner announced based on accumulated points.

Kata's

Open hand kata - 1.5 min max

Weapons kata - 2 minute max (Traditional katana kata max 5 mins)

Duo kata - 2 minutes max

All kata's will be scored on etiquette, presentation, difficulty, style, and overall performance.
